Springhill Offers Women Spa-Like Center for Mammograms

18-0050-011.jpg18-0050-026.jpgSpringhill is the only hospital in the area offering our patients a new, more comfortable option for mammograms, and now the Women’s Diagnostic Center also features a completely renovated space for a more spa-like experience at the location.
18-0050-033.jpg18-0050-038.jpgEverything about the Women’s Diagnostic Center has been designed to offer a calmer, more tranquil experience – from the soft color palette, charming artwork, and comfortable furnishings, to the soft, plush gowns that the patients will actually enjoy wearing. We even included digital technology featuring serene visuals and lite music. Springhill updated everything with women’s comfort in mind.
18-0050-046.jpg“Studies have shown that this relaxes the patient and allows the technologist to actually get better images, and, of course it enhances the patient’s experience,” said Laura Becker, Director of SMC Radiology.
“The hospital has invested in the Senographe Pristina so we can provide one of the most comfortable mammography experiences for our patients,” Becker explains. “So, our investment in the renovations further our efforts for a more peaceful overall experience.”
Designed from the ground up with the input from women, Senographe Pristina is the first mammography system to provide women with the “three Cs”: comfort, confidence, and clarity. And, it’s ONLY available in Mobile at Springhill Medical Center!
Even the machine itself is designed to resemble not just a piece of medical equipment, but a piece of art, with rounded edges and elegant lighting. But the design is more than just aesthetic; the gentle, rounded corners of the image receptor, where the woman places her breasts, completely changes the stance of the traditional mammogram. Instead of tensing their pectoral muscles while grabbing the traditional handgrips — which can make it hard to acquire high quality images — women can lean comfortably on the armrests, relaxing their muscles to simplify positioning, compression, and improve image quality. The image receptor is also thinner than the previous design.
As a reminder, Senographe Pristina allows us to offer traditional 2D or 3D technology to our patients. This technology, also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, delivers superior diagnostic accuracy at the same low dose as a 2D mammography exam, the lowest patient dose of all FDA-approved 3D mammography systems.
