Springhill Honors 2016 Employee of the Year

Springhill Medical Center honored Joe Reid as Employee of the Year — 2016.
SMC’s Utilities and Compliance Manager, Mr. Reid has been a dedicated member of the Facilities Management crew at the hospital since 2012.
As Employee of the Year, Mr. Reid was recognized as someone who best embodies Springhill’s mission:
To be the best health care provider in Mobile, where patients and physicians can rely on our outstanding staff to efficiently provide health care that is unmatched in quality, convenience, and benefit of use in a courteous and family-oriented manner.
“Joe Reid is a wonderful person to represent ALL Springhill employees,” said President and CEO Mr. Jeff St. Clair, who presented the award during the Springhill’s company picnic May 14. “He came into his position several years ago with limited direct experience for the position, and he worked endless hours and stayed focused until he really learned what was necessary to be successful in this new position. As a result, he has represented the Facilities Management department, as well as the hospital, in a professional manner, particularly during the most recent Joint Commission survey.”
His anonymous nomination for Employee of the Year indicated that “Joe is fair and genuine in both his praise and discipline. He stands behind what he says. Joe is a man with a very kind and giving heart. He goes into a situation with a humble information-seeking attitude, always eager to learn new things. Joe is a get-it-done kind of employee. He sees a need, addresses it, and follows through until complete.”
A former business owner and master plumber for 19 years, Mr. Reid and his wife, Cheryl, are Mobile residents and have four children and 11 grandchildren.
As winner of the Employee of the Year Award, Mr. Reid received a framed certificate, a paid day off, a cash prize, a parking space of his choice for a year, an Employee-of-the-Year shirt, and other gifts.
This year’s other honored nominees were David Redd, Surgery; Dawn Holloway, PACU; Parthenia “Peaches” Tillman, Business Office; and Kimberly Williams, 3400.
Springhill Medical Center is a 263-bed acute care hospital accredited by The Joint Commission. Since 1975, Springhill has grown and expanded its services in the southwest Alabama. Today, SMC includes the hospital, a unique and comprehensive heart center, senior residence, sleep center, athletic club, and orthopaedic surgery center.
