The Hooptie Do 4 Heart Disease (HD4HD) event, benefitting the American Heart Association, will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, in the Rose Garden parking lot at Springhill Medical Center (3719 Dauphin St.)
As in years past, the 2016 Hooptie Do will offer attendees an exceptional family oriented, fun-filled evening with a new twist this year by featuring the Darndest Drawdown Ever! A single entry ticket is only $20 per person, and kids 12 and under get in free. The $50 per couple entry ticket includes one entry into the Darndest Drawdown Ever! with a chance to win big money and you don’t have to be present to win.
Although the HD4HD provides popular local music each year, this year marks the first time we featured live music by the James Boys and a DJ spinning great tunes all night. As always, guests will pass through the Gulf Coast Hot Rodders Antique Car and Truck Show as they enter the venue. From there, guests will have an opportunity to review and place bids on silent auction items as they make their way to a Seafood Feast Fit for a Beast buffet that includes fried fish and Gulf shrimp with all the sides and fixings.
Beverages, beer and wine are also included with every ticket. Previous auction items and prizes included things such as signed sports memorabilia, gift certificates, travel vouchers and a mountain bike. This year’s items should prove to be just as desirable and equally affordable. Eunice Chavez of Houston donated the 2016 HD4HD artwork design. Ms. Chavez is a former resident of Mobile with close ties to the area and has first-hand experience with loved ones battling heart disease. The HD4HD began as way to raise awareness and funding for the American Heart Association so that one day heart disease will be a thing of the past. The goal of the HD4HD is to not only raise money for research as we remember and honor our loved ones lost, it is also to raise awareness.
