Springhill Medical Center’s $3.7 million overhaul of its maternity unit has opened to rave reviews from expectant Moms, former patients, physicians, employees, and the local community.
“Quality patient-centered care in a family friendly environment has been a hallmark of Springhill Medical Center since the hospital was founded in 1975,” said Mr. Jeff St. Clair, Springhill President and CEO. “With our new updated and modernized Labor & Delivery rooms, expectant mothers will be delighted to find that our focus is still on the patient with many extras designed just for them.”
The suites feature DIRTT® new construction technology designed for patient comfort and convenience, as well as for the entire family. We know families are an important part of the support system during this special time, so we've designed our new suites with that in mind.
DIRTT, which stands for Doing It Right This Time, harnesses sophisticated software that communicates using an interactive 3D experience. The design is fed directly into the DIRTT production facilities, resulting in lower labor costs thanks to smaller crews and clean, tilt-up construction. Waste is minimized during the building process and the move-in schedule is much quicker. The results for SMC are suites that reflect our patient-centered care while integrating all of SMC’s existing and future technology. The suites themselves will continually be ready to adapt to new care methods and equipment without demolition.
For Springhill Medical Center these materials make it easier to maintain a sterile environment, and the design allows us to provide spacious accommodations for the patients. From modern custom-designed furnishings, plug and play walls, optimized lighting, to oversized sinks for baby’s first bath right in the room, these suites have it all! And that’s in addition to the full in-room private baths that feature built-in seating in each shower and other modern upgrades.
Springhill Medical Center opened the new suites to the community in February for tours and a sneak peak before the patients moved in.
