Springhill Offers Women A More Comfortable Mammography Experience

BANNER-Senographe-Pristina-3-Women-Reshape.jpgSpringhill Medical Center is the only hospital in the area using the new Senographe Pristina™ by GE for the most comfortable mammography experiences our patients can have — whether it’s our traditional 2D or with 3D Tomosynthesis technology. And, it’s ONLY available in Mobile at Springhill Medical Center!
Designed from the ground up with the input from women, it is the first mammography system to provide women with the “three Cs”: comfort, confidence, and clarity. The gentle, rounded corners of the image receptor, where the woman places her breasts, completely changes the experience of the traditional mammogram. Women can lean comfortably on the armrests, relaxing their muscles to simplify positioning, compression, and improve image quality.
The Senographe Pristina digital technology delivers superior diagnostic accuracy at the lowest radiation dose of all FDA-approved 3D mammography systems. Tomosynthesis, or 3D breast imaging, is an advanced technology in the fight against breast cancer that some insurances will cover. You can discuss this option with the technologist at the time of your mammogram. It allows the radiologist to examine the breast tissue one layer at a time. The 3D imaging system uses high-powered computing to convert digital breast images into a stack of very thin layers or “slices.”
Springhill Medical Center is a 263-bed acute care hospital accredited by The Joint Commission. Since 1975, Springhill has grown and expanded its services in the southwest Alabama market while maintaining more nurses to each patient for a personal approach and 1-to-1 nurse/patient ratio for childbirth services. Today, SMC includes the hospital, a unique and comprehensive heart center, senior residence, cancer center, athletic club, and orthopaedic surgery center, and the only Emergency Department with all ER physicians board certified in emergency medicine.Original Article
